The role of the Board is to provide oversight of the organization’s finances; to give vision for the agency’s growth and direction; and to assist in providing needed resources. The NAMI SW WA Board of Directors meets on the fourth (4th) Wednesday of the month.
Qualifications of Directors
The NAMI SW WA Board of Directors seeks individuals who are willing to make a commitment to the governing of NAMI SW WA. This includes a time commitment of approximately three to six hours per month which includes 1 ½ hour monthly meetings. Each member of the board is asked to serve on a committee and attend a once or twice-yearly planning session. The Board of Directors looks for members who have a compassionate heart for the issues and needs of the mental health community and who can bring skills that will assist with the governing of the agency. These skills include but are not limited to business management, legal expertise, internet skills, fund development, volunteer development, teaching, counseling, and general connectedness within the local community.
Term Limits of the Board
Each NAMI Clark County director serves a renewable three-year term and may hold an office for two consecutive terms followed by a one-year absence. The immediate past president serves as an ex-officio member of the board for one year following the end of his/her term of office.
